Bandana Aprons

Yesterday was craft day for the month.  And boy, was it a fun, easy and practical craft.  As you may have assumed from the title of this post, we made bandana aprons.  What mom doesn’t need a quick place to wipe her hands while whipping up a most delicious and nutritious dinner?  These adorable aprons could also be made for the little girls in your life too (i.e. daughter, niece, god-daughter, child’s friend, etc.).  I wish I could say I was the brain behind this craft idea, but the credit must go to three other women.  First, the original idea came from a mother of 4 blog: Under the Sycamore by Ashley Ann.  Secondly, one of our mamas found her DIY post for a really cute monogram tote and passed the link on to our craft coordinator.  Then, our craft coordinator searched the blog a little more and found the bandana apron idea.  Here’s the link: Bandana Apron.  Check out the finished products.

In addition to the bandana aprons, we discussed the importance of friendships in our lives.  As moms, busy with so many other things, our friendships sometimes get pushed aside.  But as we all know, investing in our friendships is crucial for fulfilling the need for significant connections outside of our family.  Our Mentor Mom shared her experience of having seasonal friendships:  temporary friendships that are important for a particular time in life, but do not produce a lifetime friendship.  She explained the importance of these friendships despite their potentially short lifespan.  We watched the video segment, Building a Community of Friends, from the MOPS International curriculum, and wrapped up the session with some discussion questions.  I challenge you to answer the discussions questions below and take some time this week to reach out to a friend or make a new one.

Discussion Questions:

1) How did your friendships change when you became a mom?

2) How are your friends similar or different from you? (i.e. have kids, single/married, younger/older, etc.)

3) Why do we sometimes neglect our friendships?

4) What needs do your friendships provide for you?

5) Do your closest friends build your faith?
